Kevin Smith, 58, of Shelton, arrived at the Shelton Police department on Thursday, Sept. 12, and told officers he had just smashed a window on the Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton, said Det. Richard Bango.
Smith told officers that he smashed the window on the library because he wanted to bring awareness to the homeless situation in Shelton, specifically his situation, Bango said.
Police responded to the library to verify Smith’s allegation and discovered a smashed window pane on the front of the building and a rock lying directly beneath the window, he added.
Smith was charged with criminal mischief and held on a $1,000 bond.
